Hi, my name is Cory Muller and I’m the founder of Staff Lounge Consulting—and like most educators, I’ve lived approximately 47 different lives in one career. I started as a fourth-grade teacher in Jackson Local Schools, where I learned how to tie shoes, redirect wandering minds, and survive the daily emotional rollercoaster of “What are we doing today?” After that, I spent eight years as a Preschool–3rd Grade principal, which means I’ve broken up crayon-related disputes, answered parent emails at 10 p.m., and perfected the art of smiling while sprinting down a hallway. Currently, I serve as a Special Education Coordinator in Akron Public Schools, where I help teams support students while juggling more acronym than any human should legally be allowed to memorize.

Through all those roles, one thing has become very clear: education is not for the faint of heart. Teachers and administrators are basically superheroes disguised in cardigans and sensible shoes. You’re asked to do a million things at once while remaining calm, cheerful, and somehow magically remembering every student’s lunch count. I’ve experienced the exhaustion, the chaos, the “Is this really happening?” moments, and the deep love that keeps us coming back.

That’s exactly why I created Staff Lounge Consulting. My mission is to help educators navigate the daily mess….yes, that mess…with humor, honesty, and practical strategies that actually help. No fluff. No buzzwords. Just real talk and real support from someone who’s been in the trenches, behind the desk, and occasionally hiding in the staff lounge trying to drink a cup of coffee before it goes cold.

Most of all, I want to be someone teachers can trust and genuinely connect with. Someone who gets it. Someone who can laugh with you, problem-solve with you, and remind you that you’re not actually losing your mind—you’re just working in a school.
